On the 6th February 2008 the Attorney General refused permission to  proceed to the Courts to obtain a fresh investigation.

The Attorney General broke her promise to the MPs, the public and the Duggans. The Attorney General  released  a  public statements  on their website stating that Erica Duggan would have a chance to comment on the information gathered. In addition letters were written to MPs stating that nothing would be decided without a chance for us to put our comments.

If the Attorney General can make false statements to the people what hope for our Justice? This decision was made behind closed doors without any involvement of the applicant Erica Duggan

It is known that Dr Dolman the coroner had a private word on the telephone with the legal advisor to the Attorney General whose job it is to advice her. It is not known exactly what the Coroner said to the Attorney General’s office but whatever it was it would have influenced his presentation of the facts. So here again  we  have  private telephone conversations and decision behind closed doors.

Is this not against principles of openness and transparency advocated by the present Government?

On the 5th February 2008 the Attorney General made a decision behind closed doors not to allow us to proceed towards a new investigation. This has been so widely condemned by the Supporters of the Campaign for Justice that in a very short time they have set up a petition.

The Petition with 1,078 signatures was presented on Thursday 3rd April 2008 at No 10 Downing Street to the Prime Minister Gordon Brown. We are committed to continue our petition until we get justice.

Louise Ellman MP and Rudi Vis MP (representative  together with supporters of the Justice for Jeremiah Campaign) delivered  the petition. We all appreciated our right to voice our objections and we called on  Prime Minister Gordon Brown to intervene and take relevant steps to ensure Justice for Jeremiah.

Presentation of a Petition to Number 10 Downing Street: 3rd April 2008

Handing the petition over to no 10

It is most important that we continue to get support for our Petition and get friends and relations to sign up. This is because we plan to hand in the petition to the British Minister of Justice very soon so that he can read your comments.

We also will be handing the petition to Germany's Angela Merkel. It is planned that this petition will continue until we get Justice.

Many MPs had received letters from the Attorney General and read how she promised that the family would be kept fully informed and be able to comment on what information was gained from the German authorities and from the Coroner Dr Dolman. This promise was laid out in an official release from the Attorney Generals office.

This has proved to be untrue as none of this has happened so far. The Attorney General has not given reasons for her decision, not provided Erica Duggan with disclosure of information gathered and not allowed them their rights to comment.
